Introducing Yourself
저는 ___이에요 — say your name, where you're from, and 'nice to meet you' warmly.
A Korean self-introduction doesn't need to be long. Name, a warm “nice to meet you”, maybe where you're from — said simply, it lands beautifully.
Saying your name
저는 ___이에요 / 예요
jeoneun ___ ieyo / yeyo
I'm ___
저는 = “as for me” — the polite I. Your name goes in the blank.
Which ending? It's a sound rule, and you already know it from the Hangul course: if the name ends in a consonant (받침), say 이에요; if it ends in a vowel, say 예요.
저는 Sam이에요
jeoneun Sam-ieyo
I'm Sam
Sam ends in a consonant (m) → 이에요
저는 Emma예요
jeoneun Emma-yeyo
I'm Emma
Emma ends in a vowel (a) → 예요
Nice to meet you
만나서 반가워요

Nice to meet you
Literally “having met you, I'm glad” — warm and standard. 반갑습니다 is the slightly more formal version.

미국에서 왔어요

I'm from the U.S.
Swap the country: 영국 (UK), 캐나다 (Canada), 호주 (Australia). ___에서 왔어요 = “I came from ___”.
