Who these guides serve
Korean ESY is an independent learning project for English-speaking beginners. Our lessons connect a small language goal to a usable situation: ordering a drink, understanding an apology, or choosing a polite ending. The publisher is Korean ESY; a publisher byline does not imply a certified teacher or outside expert review.
Useful explanations, with checkable sources
Our standard for new articles is a direct answer, original worked examples, a practice task with an explanation, and a clear next lesson. We consult primary references such as the National Institute of Korean Language dictionaries for definitions and usage. Where a source supports a factual point, the article links to it. Our teaching examples are written for the lesson and are not quotations from that source.
Dictionary definitions do not settle every social situation. We distinguish a phrase’s grammatical meaning from possible conversational interpretations, avoid treating all Korean speakers alike, and explain when context or relationships change a choice. Romanization is a reading aid, not a substitute for learning Hangul or listening to speech.
AI assistance and review
AI tools assist with research organization, drafting, editing, and website development. They can make mistakes. Our workflow checks factual claims against the linked references and checks examples and exercises for consistency before publication. Unless a page explicitly names a qualified human reviewer, no independent teacher review is claimed.
Corrections and updates
If an example is unclear or a statement appears wrong, use our contact page and include the page URL, the sentence, and your proposed correction or source. Substantive changes should be explained on the affected page with an updated date. We do not change an article’s date simply to make it appear new. Older articles are being reviewed against these standards; the existence of this policy does not mean every older guide has already been re-reviewed.
Funding and independence
The learning material is currently free. We intend to support the site with advertising, but the site is not currently approved for Google AdSense and this version of the site does not display AdSense ads. We do not accept payment to change a grammar explanation. Any future sponsored or affiliate material should be clearly identified on the relevant page.
