If you are choosing a Korean romance for your next watch, start with the kind of story you want rather than a promise that a new show will be “the next big thing.” Take Charge of My Heart is an upcoming Netflix Korean romantic comedy with a fantastical premise. Its announcement gives you enough to decide whether to keep it on your list, but not enough to judge its acting, pacing or ending.

Here is a spoiler-light guide to the announced setup, followed by an original way to decide what you want to notice when you watch. We deliberately leave later plot developments out of the preview.

The confirmed basics

Netflix’s September 10 announcement names October 9, 2026 as the premiere date. Kim Young-kwang plays Baek Ho-rang, a man with an artificial heart that needs recharging; Chae Soo-bin plays Na Bo-bae, a woman with electrical powers. The announcement presents the story as a romantic comedy adapted from a web novel. It credits Park Soo-won as director and Song You-chae as writer. Netflix’s announcement

That short setup is the factual basis for this guide. The questions below are our own viewing prompts, not descriptions of scenes we have seen. The fictional heart mechanism is a fantasy device, not a medical explanation.

Is this the kind of romance you want tonight?

Use the premise to make a preference decision. You do not need to predict whether a series will be good before deciding whether its setup interests you.

What you wantWhat to do with this preview
A romance that allows impossible eventsKeep the title on your list if the electrical premise appeals to you. Reserve judgment on how well it works until you watch.
A strictly realistic relationship dramaThe fantasy setup may not suit tonight’s mood. You can pass without treating that preference as a criticism of the show.
Familiar lead performers in a new pairingNote the two announced leads, but do not assume their earlier roles predict these characters.
A finished series you can watch in one weekendWait until the actual episode release pattern is confirmed. A premiere date alone does not answer this question.
A title suitable for a particular household memberCheck the local title page’s rating and content information before watching. This preview does not establish suitability.

The useful outcome is a small decision: keep, wait or skip for now. A watchlist should serve your evening, not become an obligation to finish every title you add.

Three questions to take into the first episode

1. What does each person want beyond the fantastical problem? Write a separate line for each lead. “I think this person wants…” is a better starting point than assigning a permanent label such as selfish or perfect. Revise the note if the episode gives you a reason. The announcement’s central mechanism explains why the characters may interact; it does not settle how you will understand them.

2. What makes an interaction funny to you? Notice whether your response comes from timing, an awkward situation, a misunderstanding or a contrast between what someone says and does. You do not need a specialist vocabulary. A note such as “I laughed when the situation changed unexpectedly” records your response more honestly than repeating promotional adjectives.

3. What would make you choose a second episode? Pick one personal criterion before viewing: interest in a character’s next choice, enjoyment of the tone, or curiosity about a relationship. Afterwards, compare your answer with that criterion. This keeps a decision about your own enjoyment separate from claims about everyone else’s taste.

These are prompts for an actual viewing, not predictions about particular scenes. We have not tested them with an audience or measured learning outcomes.

Make a two-minute watch card

Copy the following into your own notes. Leave the second half blank until you watch.

  • Title and source checked: Take Charge of My Heart; official announcement checked October 4.
  • Why I might watch: One sentence about my own preference.
  • Before pressing play: Check local availability, rating, episode information and available audio/subtitle choices.
  • After viewing: One character choice I want to understand better, described in my own words.
  • My next step: Continue, pause or choose something else, with one reason.

For a shared evening, let each person choose a reason independently. Someone may be interested in the fantasy premise while someone else wants a light romance. A disagreement about preference does not require either person to defend a prediction about the series’ quality. If you discuss an episode later, agree on a spoiler boundary first.

What the announcement does not settle

This guide does not confirm a release time in Los Angeles, a total episode count, weekly versus all-at-once delivery, every country’s availability, or specific dubbing and subtitle options. Check those details on the official Netflix title page in your region. That title-page link was supplied by the announcement; its localized playback details were not independently verified for this article.

If you are arranging a watch with a friend, keep “announced premiere date” and “our agreed start time” in separate fields. Do not turn the date into a made-up midnight release time. Our Korean guide to asking about dates, start times and waiting gives original polite examples for making that distinction.

Want to place this choice in a broader list? Our Netflix Korea watchlist guide explains how to separate different program formats in an annual announcement. This article focuses on one title and your own viewing decision; an annual list is not proof that every listed program is currently playable.
